Schizophrenia affects about one percent of the population. Common symptoms include delusions and hallucinations. According to the American Psychiatric Association, there is no cure but through treatment, symptoms can greatly improve.

Urban Health Media Project students Sierra Lewter and Samara Winston spoke with a client at the McClendon Center in Washington D.C., as well as the center's director of clinical services. This video documents the client's experience overcoming schizophrenia and shows the importance of giving people like him access to mental health services.
