The mission of the Urban Health Media Project is to help high school students from diverse backgrounds and under-resourced communities in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore produce multimedia stories about health and social issues that are often overlooked in their communities.
We will always be transparent about any funders covered in our stories. The interests of our sponsors, partners and donors do not have any bearing on how we choose to cover stories. We will never accept funding to take a particular position on a specific topic, and we will never produce a story because of a funder’s stance on a specific issue.
UHMP will disclose all donors who give $5,000 or more a year. We accept anonymous donations only if sufficient safeguards have been put into place in accordance with the standards of the Institute for Nonprofit News.
Any fundraising materials of UHMP, and any communications with donors and potential donors, are truthful and accurate. We expend funds consistent with donor intent.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, UHMP does not pay certain taxes. We may receive funds from standard government programs offered to nonprofits or similar businesses.
